Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using GoSplit, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using this service.

Description of Service

GoSplit is an expense splitting and group finance management application that allows users to:

  • Create and manage expense groups
  • Track shared expenses among group members
  • Calculate balances and settlements
  • Invite others to join expense groups
  • View expense history and activity logs

User Accounts

Account Creation

To use GoSplit, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account

Account Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Not share your account credentials with others
  • Not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
  • Keep your contact information up to date

Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use GoSplit for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Violate any laws in your jurisdiction
  • Transmit any viruses, malware, or malicious code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or collect data without permission
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use the service to commit fraud or financial crimes

User Content

You retain ownership of all content you submit to GoSplit (expenses, comments, descriptions, etc.). By posting content, you grant us a license to use, display, and store this content as necessary to provide the service.

You are solely responsible for:

  • The accuracy of expense data you enter
  • Resolving payment disputes with other users
  • Complying with tax obligations related to your expenses

Payment Processing

GoSplit is a tracking and calculation tool only. We do NOT:

  • Process financial transactions
  • Transfer money between users
  • Hold funds on behalf of users
  • Provide payment services

All settlements and payments between users must be arranged independently outside of GoSplit.

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted access to the service
  • Error-free operation
  • That the service will meet your specific requirements
  • Permanent storage of your data (though we make reasonable efforts)

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with or without notice.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
  • Abuse or harass other users
  • Fail to comply with our policies

You may terminate your account at any time through account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy of calculations

We do not warrant that the service will be secure, error-free, or virus-free.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOSPLIT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Disputes between users regarding payments or expenses
  • Errors in calculations or data entry
  • Unauthorized access to your account

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the last 12 months.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GoSplit, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another user
  • Your content or conduct

Intellectual Property

The GoSplit service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by GoSplit and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our services without our express written permission.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by:

  • Posting the updated terms on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date
  • Sending email notifications for significant changes

Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
